No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex

My Review

Lets talk about the new No7 Advanced Retinol 1.5% Complex by No7, available at all Boots stores in the UK.

This is not the first retinol product I’ve tried – I’ve previously used 0.25% retinols in the past. The No7 product is a .3% retinol, which may slightly confuse some people given the 1.5% in the name. This makes it an excellent starter retinol if you’ve not used one before. Retinol (vitamin A) is a scientifically proven anti-aging ingredient – the current gold standard in over the counter skincare.

Whilst not being the strongest retinol on the market, this beautifully formulated product packs a punch with added Matrixyl 3000 Plus to give you a boost of delightful peptides. Peptides support collagen production and starts the natural skin repair process.

A little of this product goes a long way, with the instructions advising that two pumps is enough to cover your face. Strangely, the instructions do not mention applying this product to your neck. I always believe in taking all skincare down to your neck.

The texture of the product is like a thin cream that sinks in nicely to the skin. I tend to put on my watery serums before this product, then a moisturiser after.

As with most No7 products, the packaging is superb with it being in an air-tight, opaque packaging. There is a pump for easy distribution of product. I’m so pleased they have decided to forgo using a pipette for this.

I’ve been using this product a little over a month now and I’ve not experienced any irritation or redness with this product. On its own I find it quite hydrating, which highlights how nicely this product has been formulated, but I personally like to wear a moisturiser over it anyway. What I have noticed is that my skin texture is smoother, my spots are quicker to heal and I can honestly say that the small amount of lines I had on my forehead have reduced – albeit they’re not gone, but they have reduced in appearance.

I would highly recommend this product if you are new to retinol and want to try one. It’s probably a bit more on the pricier side, being £34 for 30ml, but that being said this product will last you a long time and it’s very nice to use.
