The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Review

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%

This was one of the very first products I purchased from The Ordinary back when I was new to serums and my skincare routine consisted of cleansing and moisturising. Oh how little I knew back then. The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% is a super gentle formulation and shouldn’t cause too much irritation.

My Review

This is essentially a water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C in a serum. Vitamin C (as most of you will know) is a fantastic antioxidant which brightens skin tone but is usually unstable in water bases, hence why this is a derivative.

I like to recommend this product as an entry to using Vitamin C as it is gentler than other products such as direct L-Ascorbic Acid, which can sometimes cause stinging or irritation.

This product soaks in nicely and really does help brighten the skin over time. This is not a miracle product and will take time to see results. Only a few drops are needed which means this will last you a good 2-3 months or so.

As always with The Ordinary, the price point for this product is great – around £8.90 for 30ml depending on the retailer.

Brands Product Description

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% offers a lightweight, water-based formula that helps reduce signs of aging by brightening and balancing uneven skin tone. Unlike direct forms of vitamin C, this easy-to-use serum contains a water-soluble vitamin C derivative that converts into vitamin C once applied, giving it less irritation potential. And because it has advanced antioxidant properties, it also protects skin from the visual effects of damage caused by environmental stressors, helping to maintain a more radiant complexion.
