Purito Centella Green level Unscented Sun SPF50+ PA++++ Purito Comfy Water Sun Block SPF50+ PA++++

So after my try-to-be-funny-meme yesterday, let me breakdown my thoughts on the situation.

I’m sure everybody and their aunty knows about the current Purito ‘scandal’. If you’ve been living under a rock, there has been a debate about whether the much loved and raved about Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ is capable of having a factor 50+ due to only having two filters.

@incidecodercom have sent the SPF for two independent in-vivo tests, which allegedly showed the SPF sits at around 19, not 50+. Purito have released a statement that they are pulling the products from sale, are conducting their own tests, and that the error is the labs fault.

People are obviously angry and rightfully so. If you needed to wear a SPF50+ for health reasons and you purchase this product under the assumption that it was a factor 50+, wouldn’t you be annoyed? Not to mention the reason the majority of us wear SPF is to prevent Furthermore, with prescription strength skincare that increase sensitivity to the sun being more readily available, SPF’s are all the more important.

I’ve seen varying different opinions about this. Some have said they’re never going to touch another Asian sunscreen again. Some have said that they’re going to boycott Purito, while others have said they want to see what they ‘do’ next. I do not believe that this should be a boycott of all Asian sunscreens. You cannot tar all brands with the same brush.

I personally hate cancel culture so I don’t believe Purito should be ‘cancelled’. I think everyone should have a chance to redeem themselves (within reason obviously – not you peados). Yes, this is a pretty fucking serious and, in my opinion, they have acted wrongly by continuing to sell the product, despite concerns being raised earlier this year. But I feel I need to wait and see how Purito deal with this situation and how they can make it right for their customers.

Hopefully good things will come from this, not just for Purito but for all brands. Perhaps brands will ensure their products SPF rating is tested through multiple labs, as opposed to one?

My question to my readers is, where do we go from here? What are your thoughts
