Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Cream Review

Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Cream

The final part of my Kate Somerville DeliKate review series which I hope you have all enjoyed! Recovery Cream – sounds so nice doesn’t it?

My Review

The Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Cream is a balm-like cream designed to improve the skins protective barrier, relieve stressed skin, hydrate and reduce redness. I suspect that the reason this is so thick is to try and prevent transepidermal water loss. Kate’s philosophy has always been is that you hydrate your skin with a hydrating product and then lock it in with a moisturiser.

This really is unlike most creams I’ve tried. It’s really thick and balm like in the pot, but melts down into a velvety/creamier consistency when applied to the skin. It certainly does help minimise redness on the skin and gives my skin a lovely polished finish after use so I can imagine makeup would sit well on top of it. It’s the queen of calming irritated skin – really soothing and feels quite luxurious to use.

What this cream does best is locking in hydration to prevent transepidermal water loss. If you have dehydrated skin this winter like me (note there’s a difference between dry and dehydrated) you will need to layer a hydrating serum or essence underneath it to really reap the benefits of this cream. People with dry skin will love this, people with dehydrated skin will need something more water based, or will need to layer with a hydrating serum.
