Kate Somerville is possibly becoming one of my favourite brands. I’ve had the Kate Somerville +Retinol Vita C Power Serum for a couple of months now and I have been using it consistently in my routine, so it’s time for me to post my thoughts.
What is it?
A powerhouse serum that is formulated with Vitamin C and Retinol to visibly brighten, firm and even tone while working to improve skin texture, smooth lines and neutralize free radicals that can cause premature aging.
What do I think about it?
This is actually one of my favourite retinol serums I’ve ever tried. Beware though, it’s very strong so make sure you amp up your hydration and ceramides when using. I use two pumps and personally layer this with the DeliKate Recovery Cream or serum to offset any irritation.
I only use this around 3-4 times a week, as any more than this can really upset my skin. I’m very pleased to say that when using this I can visibly see the difference making it one of the most rewarding retinol products I’ve ever used, even if it’s the only one so far that makes me peel.
It smells delightful – like Terry’s Chocolate Orange (not that smell has anything to do with it, it just makes it a nicer experience!) and has a cream like texture to it that glides effortlessly onto your face. One thing I really like is that the retinol and Vitamin C have been formulated together, making it an excellent multi-ingredient product.
Would I recommend?
Yes, but only to those who can afford it and are experienced retinol users. It is strong so you need to go steady with it. That being said, I’m cheap so I would only repurchase with a discount. Luckily, Kate Somerville products are available at various different retailers now (Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty etc.), meaning that discount codes are more readily available.

How I use it
I’d cleanse my face, then apply two pumps of this to my finger tips and massage into my face. I’d only use this 3-4 times a week. On the days I don’t use this, I might use something gently exfoliating or something that’s hydrating/barrier repairing.
Would I repurchase?
Yes – I’ve seen really good results from it.
