SkinCity 2021 Advent Calendar Review

SkinCity 2021 Advent Calendar

Happy New Year Everyone! 🍾

I should probably get this review of the SkinCity 2021 Advent Calendar posted before the end of the festive season… 😂

Why I Bought It

I hadn’t ever bought an advent calendar before this year. Buying an advent calendar is always tricky for me because often they come with makeup the ones aimed at men are full of things like beard oil (because obviously every single man in existence has a beard).

When SkinCity launched their calendar in October, I decided to purchase it for two reasons.

1) I didn’t know what was in it before I bought it and I really liked the element of surprise.
2) The calendar was branded as a skincare calendar, so I was thinking it would be make-up free.

How Much it Cost

£140.00

The Packaging of the Calendar

The packaging of the calendar is beautiful and each product comes individually wrapped in a drawstring bag with the date on. The box and draw string bags can easily be re-used, so I’m going to pass it onto someone who would re-use it for next year.

What I think

Product-wise I was pleased with the variety the brands that were included within the SkinCity 2021 Advent Calendar. The Oskia Renaissance Mask, SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier and the Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner were my favourites of the bunch.

Unfortunately there were two products that were a bit of a let-down. An Hourglass Mascara was included which I thought was a bit frustrating for a skincare based advent calendar. I passed it on to my mum.

They also included the SkinCity Anti-Bacterial Disinfection Mousse. I get COVID is rampant, but does anyone really want to receive a hand sanitiser as a gift? No. We could have done with something a bit nicer I think.

The only full-sizes included with this were the previously mentioned Anti-Bac Mousse, The SkinCity Rich Repair Body Balm and the SkinCity Retexturising Eye Serum and the By Wishtrend Acid-Duo Hibiscus Cream. The latter three are nice products, but it would have been nice to see more full sizes, and a few full-sizes that weren’t from the Skin City’s own brand.

I did have a small issue whereby when it arrived the Medik8 Gentle Cleanser had leaked. I contacted SkinCity and they happily replaced it. Great customer service!

Was it worth it?

It was nice having a little surprise each day to open and some of the products I’m super excited to try out. If you’re like me and you’re someone who likes to try new things and have travel sizes to play with then yes. If you’re someone who just wants full sizes and sticks to a couple of brands, then no.

How was your advent calendar?
