Byoma Hydrating Serum Review

Byoma Hydrating Serum

Ahh Byoma.  I love your products but I cannot stand your packaging. The Byoma Hydrating Serum is hands down my favourite serum from the range.

What is it?

It’s a milky serum that combines ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids, squalane and Glycerin to boost your skin barrier and leave your skin supple and hydrated.

What do I think?

It works really well and I cannot say enough good things about the product itself. I love it.

What I don’t love is the packaging. Whilst it looks great, it’s my first complaint about the whole line. For this serum, it was only half-way to three quarters full when I bought it. The brand said they opted for slightly bigger packaging to fit all required legal information on the packaging without the need for a box but that there was definitely 30ml in the product. Ok, I can live with that but it does feel like you’re getting a half-filled product and also feels like a little bit of a waste of plastic.

The second issue I have with this packaging is that the dropper is just not suited for the viscosity of this product. It’s incredible hard to get the product out using the dropper, and not only that, it doesn’t reach the bottom of the bottle.  When I physically couldn’t get any more product out using the dropper, I opted for decanting into some empty Trinny London T-Pots.  For reference, a Trinny London T-Pot holds around 4ml. I managed to fill two of them, meaning that there’s around 8ml of product that the dropper cannot reach or pick up.

The plastic is also very hard, so virtually impossible to cut open unless you took a saw to it.

This kind of serum is better suited to a pump. It really makes me wonder if they actually tested the product with the packaging before launch.

Would I recommend?

The serum itself – yes, without a doubt. It’s lovely… the perfect hydrating serum. What hugely lets this product down is the packaging.

Tri-Ceramide Complex, Squalane, Glycerin

How I use it

I use this in the morning or evening in the serum stage of my routine. I’d then apply a moisturiser, and then a sunscreen if wearing in the day.

Would I repurchase?

It’s a shame because it’s a good product and I would repurchase, but the packaging is awful, a huge let-down and it puts me off repurchasing until the issue is resolved.

How Much?

£12.99 for 30ml. Really affordable – makes the complaints listed above a little bearable.
