Sometimes the simple, hydrating routines are the best ones. This is where brands like Athletia Beauty step in and have you covered. They are a Japanese inspired skincare and lifestyle brand focusing on natural ingredients with botanical extracts and essential oils playing a part in the formulations to benefit the skin, body and mind.
Let’s start with the packaging – isn’t it pretty? Simple, but environmentally conscious – they opt to use glass or sugar-cane-derived-polyethylene.
The products themselves are really nice to use – hydrating with pleasant, relaxing fresh scents for that ultimate sensorial experience. I was gifted three of the products from their range to try: Core Balance Oil, Core Balance Toning Lotion.
Now, the thing that surprised me the most was that the brand suggest you put the Oil on before the Toning Lotion. 🤔 This goes against everything you have ever learnt about layering products, BUT, there’s a reason for this. If you apply the oil last, you can be left with that oily feeling on the skin, which some people don’t like, so by applying the toner second it changes to a milky texture rather than oil.
I suppose you could layer them either way, which ever suits you, but I actually think their recommendation is the best way and results in a nice feeling on the skin. Used in conjunction the products aim to support the skins own ability to maintain hydration. These leave my skin feeling soft, hydrated and comfortable. I personally have been using them in the evening for a hydrating routine, but you could easily use them in the morning too.
The honourable stand out for me, however, is the Skin Protection UV Gel SPF30. ☀ If you’re a lover of Japanese or Korean sunscreens, you will love this too. This is a physical and chemical hybrid that’s lightweight, moisturising, non-greasy, non-sticky and doesn’t leave a white cast once absorbed. For me, it’s perfect for this time of year.
