Kate Somerville 12 Days of Kate Advent Calendar Review

The advent calendar I went for last year was the Kate Somerville 12 Days of Kate Advent Calendar. I’ve mentioned before that I really struggle with beauty advent calendars because quite often they contain makeup which I wouldn’t use. The Kate Somerville one seemed like a winner because it contained all skincare items only.

Why I Bought It

I’m a big Kate Somerville fan – I think the skincare is excellent and this is the first advent calendar I had seen by them and I liked the fact that it soley had skincare products in it. I had been ‘umming-and-ahhing’ over whether to buy this calendar for a while. I waited it out and was able to get myself a good discount on it, so I decided to go for it.

How Much it Cost

I purchased this from KateSomerville.co.uk. It originally was priced at £375.00. It then reduced to £281.00. I used a 25% discount code, and I had a £40 worth of points from the Rewards Program at Kate Somerville so I ended up paying £195. I also got a free full-size ExfoliKate Body for using the 25% discount code.

The Packaging of the Calendar

I love the packaging of the calendar. It comes in a beautifully presented dual layer box.  Each day is encased in a cardboard box with a number on. Inside the numbered box is the product in its original product box.  I loved the fact that they kept the packaging for each product. It meant, if you wanted to, you could gift some of the days to other people. I didn’t gift any of the days – I’m far to selfish for that 😂

What I think

I’m pleased with the selection of products, and thought the selection of full-sizes were great. The travel-sized products were also welcome. Some of them I hadn’t used before (the Liquid ExfoliKate, the Retinol Eye Cream and the Glow Moisturiser) so it’ll be nice to use these to see if I like them before purchasing full-sizes.

One thing that does let it down a little bit is that the website clearly stated the Retinol Eye Cream was a full-size. When I opened Day 6, I noticed that mine was only a travel-size.

I emailed Kate Somerville to mention there was a mistake on their website and they replied thanking me for letting them know.

Was it worth it?

If you’re a big Kate Somerville fan, the 12 Days of Kate Advent Calendar was absolutely worth the price. For the price I paid, everything aside the Total Repair Cream and the Lifting Eye Cream was essentially free, so a massive saving for me.

I was pleased with it. It was nice to have something to open each day. Furthermore, if they did one next year I would be tempted to buy again, providing I could get it for the same sort of price, and it was as good as it was this time round.

It’s currently on sale for £281 from Kate Somerville and £262.50 from Harvey Nichols
