I’ve been trying some products from Jack Black, who are infamous for being the bestselling men’s skincare brand in the US. The ethos of the brand is to create skincare and grooming products for men that are effective, multifunctional and easy to use.
The brand has four key ranges; Skincare, Shaving Products, Body Care and Haircare. All the ranges offer products for various skin concerns and hair types.
Beard Lube Conditioning Shave
I have been totally obsessed with this. My face is really sensitive when it comes to shaving and I really struggle to find shaving products that prevent the dreaded razor burn. Since using this, I have not suffered with razor burn at all. It’s got a slippery, lotion-like texture that feels cooling on the skin.
My razor seamlessly glides across my face, closely shaving my facial hair with no irritation. It also feels hydrating on the skin, so post shave I’m not left with that dry or tight feeling you can sometimes get with shaving creams. It also doesn’t clog my razor, and rinses clean from my face.
The brand love making multifunctional products, so this can be used as a shaving cream and an after shave conditioner.
They’ve packed it with some wonderful ingredients – Jojoba Oil and Macadamia Nut Oil for its moisturising properties, Glycerin to maintain the moisture balance in your skin and Phospholipids – a rich source of essential fatty acids.
NightMode Lip Treatment
There’s two things I look for in a lip product – it must be hydrating but it must not leave a shiny finish. Their lip treatment checks both of these boxes for me. It offers a good level of hydration, but also isn’t too greasy and shiny on the lips. Although it’s designed to be used at night, I have also been using this during the day.
It feels nice and hydrating thanks to its emollient rich formula. Hyaluronic Acid plays its part in the formula to retain water within the lips. Tripeptide-1 provides antioxidant protection and Manuka Honey is a natural source of vitamins and minerals to soothe and repair the lips.
Pit CTRL
This is their natural, aluminum-free, vegan deodorant (they make one with aluminum named Pit Boss if you like that in your deodorant). It feels gentle on the armpit and goes on completely translucent, which I love because it means I don’t end up with deodorant all over my black tops when I put them on.
The scent is nice and clean with masculine notes, but not overly strong which I like.
I find this good for days when I’m working from home and not doing any exercise. It’s not quite enough for me when I’ve done some exercise and sweated a lot, so I suspect the Pit Boss might be better for those days thanks to the aluminum content.
Beard Wash
I don’t have a beard, so I can’t speak for how good this is as a beard wash. It is however, like the rest of the range, multifunctional so you can use this as a facial cleanser. It’s actually great for use before Beard Lube, because it helps soften any stubble prior to shaving.
The texture is a lightly-foaming gel and it leaves the skin feeling soft, hydrated and most importantly clean.
There’s lots of softening, conditioning and hydrating ingredients in this one including Shea Butter, Jojoba Protein, Panthenol, Aloe Leaf Juice Powder and Organic Sea Kelp.
Overall, I’m really enjoying the products. The Beard Lube takes the crown for me because I’m just thrilled that I get no razor burn whilst using it.
