Good Genes is possibly one of my favourite exfoliating treatments ever and it’s from one of my favourite brands, Sunday Riley.

What is it?

Good Genes is a Glycolic Acid based treatment designed to exfoliate the skin and it one of Sunday Riley’s best sellers.

What Do I Think?

The results when using it are fantastic, and it combats a lot of skin conditions. If you’re prone to spots, it can help to decongest the skin. If your skin looking dull, tired and lifeless, this will give you your radiance back. Uneven texture, fine lines or dark spots your concern? Look no further – this really does do a lot.

Though you can use this morning or night, I opt to use this in the evening 1 or 2 nights a week. I’d simply apply before bed and just know that in the morning I will wake up with glowingly smooth skin. There’s a slight tingle when applied, which I quite like, due to the acid content but this quickly stops after a few seconds. The cream texture absorbs beautifully, and I haven’t ever experienced any issues with pilling when using this within my routines.

Glycolic Acid is a small molecular Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which means it can penetrate the skin at a deeper level than other acids. It shifts the dead skin off your face and helps dissolve excess oil. Alongside the star ingredient you also have Prickly Pear, which is good for soothing & calming the skin, and Lemon Grass which purifies and refreshes the skin. There’s also Potassium Lactate

If you live over in the US, you can get your hands on a Lactic Acid version, something which I am really hoping to try one day.

One of the things I like most about this is that it’s powerful and delivers what’s promised on the packaging, but it also is incredibly kind and gentle to the skin. I have dry skin and I find it sufficiently hydrating enough on its own. I often forget to apply a moisturiser before bed.

Would I Recommend?

Yes, absolutely. It’s a really good product that does exactly what it promises to do. A lot of people can benefit from using this, because it targets so much.
