I got a few questions about the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive when I posted it to my stories a couple weeks back as part of my Sunday night routine. It’s hands down one of my favourite treatments that provides immediate satisfaction. Believe me when I say it’s a glow-getter.

ExfoliKate Intensive is a 2 minute exfoliating treatment mask with chemical and physical exfoliation. For the chemical exfoliation, the Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid help dissolve the glue between dead skin cells. Silica, which is a small natural bead, acts as the physical exfoliation to buff away the dead skin cells. There’s also Papaya, Pineapple & Pumpkin Enzymes which act a little bit like pac-man, eating up any dead skin cells.

To use it, you simply gently massage it into damp skin for 30 seconds and then leave on for up to two minutes. Afterwards, your skin feels baby-soft, pores and uneven texture are minimised and the glow is unreal. You’ll also find the products you follow with absorb better, and your skin will feel more hydrated.

I often use this on a Sunday evening for a little facial treatment to give me a glow for the following Monday when I have to show my face in the office or I will use it before a night out or party. I actually used this before a Christmas party at the end of last year and someone happened stroked my face and was amazed at how soft it felt.

It’s quite an intense treatment. It can cause the skin to tingle and flush slightly, but this only lasts a short amount of time. There is cinnamon in it which not only gives it a beautiful scent, but helps stimulate blood flow to the skin.

If you are super sensitive, a little tip I like to mention is to mix this in with your cleanser rather than using neat on your skin. This makes it a little gentler to use, but you still get the amazing results. You can of course leave it on for less than two minutes, depending on how your skin is feeling.

I personally couldn’t be without it. It’s hands down one of my favourite Kate Somerville products.
