Kate Somerville have done it again. Their newest launch, the Kate Somerville Mega-C 30% Vitamin C Brightening Facial, sees them bring clinic inspired treatments to our own homes.

What is it?

A brightening mask containing 30% Vitamin C designed to promote an even skin tone and diminish dark marks.

What Do I Think?

Mega-C promises to even skin tone, reduce dark spots and brighten the skin. And you know what? It does it exceptionally well.

This is a high strength Vitamin C product, using the purest form of Vitamin C – Ascorbic Acid – to deliver results. Ascorbic Acid can be quite irritating, so they have formulated this with Sea Buckthorn Oil, Bisabolol, Ginger Root Extract and Ceramides to help strengthen the barrier and sooth the skin, minimising the irritation that can occur. They’ve also encapsulated the Ascorbic Acid to ensure potency from the beginning to end of the product.

You simply apply an even layer to clean, dry skin and then wait for it to do its magic. It feels extremely smooth and silky going on the skin and there is a little bit of a tingle upon application due to the high strength Vitamin C.

This is a mask that is totally customisable to your skin’s needs. You can leave it on for a maximum of 20 minutes, but if you’re quite sensitive you can leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing off.

When the mask is removed, you see a glow on the skin that’s beyond belief. If you think those results are good, just wait until the next day when they are even better! You skin just looks radiant, energised, smooth, healthy, glowing. My skin loves this – there’s just something incredibly good about this mask.

Before I started using this, I had a stubborn dark spot left from a beast of a blemish (I’m blaming the Easter Eggs for that one 🤷🏻‍♂️). Using this just once a week has noticeably helped to fade this dark spot. Swipe to see the routine I like to follow when using this product.  After using it I like to incorporate hydrating and barrier repair ingredients.

Would I Recommend?

Yes I would! I’m going to keep using this weekly, and I feel it’s going to be so beneficial for using a couple of days before a wedding or party. Go steady with it if you’re sensitive because it is potent.

Brands Product Description

Key Ingredients

  • 30% Pure Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) – Brightens & evens skin tone, promotes collagen production, and helps to reduce hyperpigmentation. This Vitamin C is encapsulated to ensure it remains potent from the very first use to the very last.
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil & Ceramides – Helps minimise any irritation from the high strength Vitamin C by strengthening the skin barrier and restoring skin’s natural lipids.
  • Bisabolol & Ginger Root Extract – Helps to calm the skin, minimising any irritation that may occur.

How I Use It

I’d use the Kate Somerville Mega-C 30% Vitamin C Brightening Facial 1-2 times a week. I’d cleanse my face and apply an even layer and leave it for 20 minutes when I would rinise it off. When I use this, I won’t use any Retinoids, Vitamin C or exfoliating acids in the routines that follow to prevent irritation. One of my personal favourite routines to use with this using Kate Somerville Products is:-

Cleanse – DeliKate Soothing Cleanser
Mask – Mega C Brightening Facial
Serum – HydraKate Recharging Serum
Moisturise – DeliKate Recovery Cream

Would I Repurchase/Buy?

I will buy this once I’ve finished this one. I’ve been really impressed with the results from it.

How Much?

£62.00 for 60ml. I thought this was going to be more expensive than it is.
