I’m not typically a lover of natural deodorants. I normally find they just don’t work for me and by the end of the day I’m a hot sweaty, smelly mess. That all changed when I discovered The Deodorant Balm created by AKT (pronounced “act”).
About the Brand
The AKT Deodorant Balms were created by two West End Performers, Andy and Ed who struggled to find deodorants that worked well under hot lights and energetic performances. They created what came to be the AKT Deodorant Balm and they have had tremendous success since launch.
The Review
There’s currently 5 different scents in the range. I opted for Orange Grove because it was the scent I found most appealing. The smell is incredible and really makes me think of a nice warm summer holiday. The scent is quite intense at first, but this soon fades into a subtle scent which is pleasing.
To use it, you simply apply a pea-sized amount to your armpit and massage in (a bit like a moisturiser). It sounds messy, but it really isn’t. It doesn’t stain your clothes and doesn’t transfer onto black clothing, which I am so grateful for.
One thing I really like about this is that you don’t just have to use this on your armpits. When I get nervous, I tend to sweat a lot from my forehead. I’ve found I can just pop a little bit of my forehead and it really helps stop me sweating.
I have to be honest, I didn’t have high hopes for this when I first got it after having bad experiences when using natural deodorants in the past. But I am super surprised and so pleased with the AKT The Deodorant Balm. No matter what, I can wear this all day at work in a hot office, do a workout and still smell fresh and clean. My armpits remain dry and it’s not irritating to my skin at all.
I will say that it is best you get an aluminium tube key for this. It really helps make sure the product comes out well and that you don’t waste any. Certainly one of those products that’s worth the hype. I recommend everyone giving them a try!
