I am a little late to the party posting my review of the FaceTheory Amil C-Whip SPF30. It launched last year and I just got a bit behind with posting my review on it.

What is it?

FaceTheory Amil C-Whip SPF30 is a bit of a multitasker. First and foremost its a moisturiser with SPF 30 protection, but it also houses a bunch of active ingredients that all do different things to give you the gorgeous, glowy skin we all desire.

What Do I Think?

I really like the texture of this. It’s got a velvety, whipped-cream texture that melts effortlessly into the skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy shine, more like a satin finish. Due to the fact it has chemical filters, there is no white cast.

It does a great job at moisturising the skin without feeling heavy. In addition to the SPF30 protection, you also get Niacinamide and Vitamin C in the formulation for brightening and evening skin tone. It wouldn’t be a FaceTheory product without added Vitamin E for protection against inflammation. They’ve also added a bit of Lactic Acid to further skin brightening.

There’s two versions available for this – a scented and unscented version. I personally went for the scented one because I liked the sound of the grapefruit scent. For me, the scent is subtle enough that it’s not overpowering and is quite pleasant. It doesn’t linger too much either.

I personally wouldn’t use this as my sole-sunscreen. I’m a little bit funny when it comes to moisturisers with SPF protection it in – I like to ensure I’m adequately protected and I’m not sure whether I would apply enough of this to get that protection. I opt to layer a sunscreen on top just to be on the safe side. I’d maybe wear this without a separate sunscreen if I’m out in the evening and the UV index is lower.

Would I Recommend?

I would totally recommend this as a moisturiser. You could use this as your moisturiser sunscreen if you wanted to, but I’d be a little bit cautious as to whether or not your adequately protected. Some protection is better than nothing, but I’d therefore recommend wearing a SPF over the top.
