I have always really struggled with sunscreen mists. They either leave a horrible greasy residue, or really
sting my eyes to the point where I have to go wash it off. I got this Kate Somerville UncompliKated SPF50 Soft Focus Makeup Setting Spray, and my god it’s the best sunscreen mist I’ve ever tried.

What is it?

A sunscreen in mist form that doubles as a makeup setting spray.

What Do I Think?

Let’s start with the mist action itself. Some mists can feel quite hose-like but this one is SO fine and feels like it’s being applied equally around the face.

I personally have not experienced any eye stinging whatsoever when using this, which is absolutely amazing.

The finish on the skin is a nice one. It leaves absolutely no white cast and no unwanted shine. It just leaves a soft-focus, semi-matte finish. It’s perfect for popping in your bag and topping up throughout the day.

I wouldn’t use this as my sole sunscreen for the day, I would mainly use it for topping up throughout the day. It makes reapplication of sunscreen super easy and convenient, which is great when you’re out for the day.

Makeup wearers will also love this, as one if it’s jobs in addition to providing SPF50 protection from UVA and UVB is to set your makeup. This means you can easily spray this over your makeup without ruining it. I can’t speak for its performance as a makeup setting spray because I don’t wear makeup, but other reviews I’ve read have said that it sets makeup really well.

I’ve read some reviews saying that it has a strong lavender scent. I can smell lavender, but to me its in no way strong or overpowering, just a subtle scent.

Would I Recommend?

I would! It’s caused my eyes no irritation, I love the finish and it’s extremely convenient for topping up sunscreen on the move.

Brands Product Description

Kate Somerville UncompliKated SPF50 is a no-fuss fine-misting SPF 50 face sunscreen that instantly sets makeup, reduces shine and provides a matte finish for a soft focus effect.

Key Ingredients

  • Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, Octocrylene, Oxybenzone – These are the sunscreen filters. These protect the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays.
  • Diffusing Silicone Powder – helps to reduce shine, providing a matte finish whilst giving the skin a soft-focus finish.
  • Rhodiola Rosea – provides antioxidant protection from enviromental aggressors.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – increases hydration.

How I Use It

As mentioned previously, I wouldn’t use this as my sole-sunscreen just because I want to be sure I’m apply enough so I would use this as a ‘top-up’. You simply shake the can, hold 8-10″ from the face and spray evenly.

Would I Repurchase/Buy?

Yes I would! I’ve already purchased a back-up!

How Much?

£36.00 for 100ml. People might think this is expensive, but I actually think it’s quite reasonable for 2 reasons. 1) It’s 100ml – many of the other mists out there are 50 or 75ml. 2) It’s affordable compared to the other Kate Somerville products.
