This was quite an interesting product that arrived on my doorstep sometime last year. Skin Proud, the curators of budget-friendly skincare, have concocted the Frozen Over Gel-to-Ice Hydrator. It’s a new concept, one that I haven’t seen before, but I’m kind of here for it.
What is it?
A hydrating moisturiser that you can use as normal. Alternatively, if you’re skin needs a bit of de-puffing or awakening, you can pop this in the freezer and apply it once it’s been in there to supercharge it as a cooling moisturiser.
What Do I Think?
As a standard moisturiser, used at room temperature, it’s a perfect gel-textured moisturiser that deeply hydrates without any heaviness. This is the kind of textured moisturiser I like in the summer months. I suspect those with all skin types will get on well with this, from those with oily all the way to dry. I personally have dry skin and it provides sufficient enough hydration for me during summer. It might not be enough during the very cold winter months.
For a hydrating moisturiser, it has two ingredients I really like to see – Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin. Both are phenomenal hydrators which help achieve that plump skin we all desire.
If you’re someone who’s skin looks puffy or tired or feels hot, pop it in the freezer for 2-3 hours. It cools the gel into a sorbet-like texture and when applied to the skin, unsurprisingly, feels very cooling and nice on the skin. It really does help to depuff and cool the skin. It’s especially if you’re a bit like me and tend to overindulge at parties or on nights out and need to breathe some life back into your face the next morning. It’s also really good during a heatwave.
I’d imagine if would feel nice if you get sunburnt on your face. I wouldn’t know for sure because I’m good with sunscreen application.
Do not keep it permanently in the freezer though, it’ll freeze solid, so just pop it in there when you know you’re going to need it.
The whole concept I suppose is a little bit gimmicky, but it works and it’s a bit of fun. My preferred method is just to use it as a standard moisturiser and forget about the freezer-action.
The only slight criticism I have for this is the box this moisturiser comes in. The colour is pink and the font is white and very small so I actually cannot read anything. Luckily the sell online so you can get all this information from there, but if this was in store customers would have an issue reading any information about the product.
Would I Recommend?
Yes! As a standalone hydrating gel moisturiser, it’s great.
