Here’s a little morning skincare routine for dull and dry skin that lacks a glow. Achieving a healthy skin glow is so easy thanks to the incredible products available, and it need not cost the earth.

When it comes to dull skin, there are a few things I believe you need to do. Firstly, you need to ensure you are adequately hydrated, and secondly you want some form of exfoliation in your routine, since dull skin is the result of a build of of dead skin cells.

So, without further ado, here is an affordable routine.

Cleanse – Sali Hughes Revolution Skincare Butter Clean Makeup Meltdown Cleansing Balm

Whilst cleansing balms are generally used for removing makeup, they also make really nice morning cleansers, especially if you suffer from dry skin. This one created by beauty journalist Sali Hughes is a really nice one that emulsifies into a milk when water is added. It’s got some wonderful oils including Squalane, Safflower and Jojoba to ensure skin is never felt sripped.

Hydrate – Q+A Marine Hyaluronate Toning Lotion *

This is sort of a two-in-one step. It’s your toner stage, but also doubles as your hydration stage of your routine. Your skin will drink up this toner like a tall glass of water and prep your skin nicely post-cleanse ready for serums.

Treat – Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Serum

This is another two-in-one step. Firstly, as a Vitamin C serum with Niacinamide this will help brighten the skin, fade dark spots and provide antioxidant protection. But Garnier have been clever and added Salicylic Acid to this, meaning you will get a bit of gentle exfoliation to shift those dead skin cells whilst also helping clear and prevent breakouts. It’s gentle, so irritation should be minimal.

Eye Cream – Skin Proud Bright Eye Pomegranate Gel-Cream (Optional)*

If you want to use an eye cream (and you don’t have to if you don’t want to or your budget doesn’t allow for it), the Bright Eye Pomegranate Gel-Cream from Skin Proud is a good eye cream that has Niacinamide to help brighten and Shea Butter to hydrate. It won’t banish dark circles, but it’ll help hydrate the eyes and give it a bit of a healthier looking glow.

Moisturiser – Revolution Pro Miracle Cream

If your skin needs instant brightening, looking for a moisturiser that’s designed sit under makeup is always a good idea. This is a brilliant high-street brightening cream. Protect – Garnier Ambre Solaire Invisible Serum Super UV SPF50+

You can’t go wrong with a Garnier sunscreen. They’re affordable and some of them have the nicest, lightweight textures, including this one. For a serum-sunscreen, this is surprisingly hydrating and will leave a nice finish on the skin without being greasy or heavy.

All products are easily available on the high street and in supermarkets, except for the Skin Proud Eye Cream which is only sold online.
