Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash Review

Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash

The Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash was recently nominated Best Cleanser in the Mecca Beauty Election 2023 awards. Sadly, it didn’t win, but it’s a lovely cleanser and well worth the nomination.

What is it?

Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash is a sulfate-free cleanser that aims to cleanse without overly drying.

What Do I Think?

This isn’t a cleanser I see a lot of people using on Social Media. It’s probably one of the least talked about Kate Somerville cleansers. If I compared this to the beloved Goat Milk Cleanser, I think it’s safe to say you’ll get a totally different experience. This is a traditional gel-cleanser that very lightly foams whereas Goat Milk is a creamy-cleanser. Goat Milk definitely feels more nourishing on the skin, more luxurious and I would happily use it as a first, second or morning cleanse, where as this feels lighter.

I wouldn’t say it would be enough to remove heavy makeup, but it does make for an excellent morning or second cleanse. My preference was to use this in the morning, and then Goat Milk in the evening.

If I don’t compare it to Goat Milk, I really loved using this, especially over the summer months. It feels very refreshing on the skin and I was always left feeling like my skin is left clean but not stripped or dry.

They’ve formulated this with a light lavender scent. Typically, I’m not overly keen on lavender scented products, but I think they’ve done well with the scent for this. It’s not overpowering, just enough to be pleasurable to use and add to the experience whilst you cleanse your face.

One thing I really like about this is the packaging. It’s got that twist top that makes it so easy to squirt out. You don’t have to worry about flipping caps open you can literally twist and squirt, making it really convenient.

Brands Product Description

Kate’s clinically formulated, customer-obsessed sulfate-free cleanser washes away makeup, impurities and pore-clogging oil without over drying. Skin is left feeling hydrated, soft and refreshed.

Key Ingredients

  • Soapbark Tree Extract – Contains natural saponins, which naturally cleanse skin.
  • Bergamot Oil – Tones skin and aids in eliminating impurities.
  • Natural Sage Oil – Calms and conditions the skin
  • Lavender Essence – Soothes the skin.

How I Use It

Primarily I use this as a morning cleanse or as a second cleanse. I would apply to damp skin and massage and then rinse.

Would I Repurchase/Buy?

I would. However, if I’m totally honest, I would go for the Goat Milk Cleanser over this. There’s just something extra special about the Goat Milk Cleanser that I feel justifies the cost.

How Much?

£38.00 for 120ml. Certainly not the cheapest cleanser by any means, but it’s not if you budget allows.
