Trinny London See The Light SPF50+ Moisturiser Review

Trinny London See The Light

I think when Trinny London launched their skincare range, I was really intrigued by what their sunscreen would look like. They already had the infamous BFF Cream SPF30, so I wondered whether they would even release a SPF50. Well, they have, named Trinny London See The Light SPF50+ Moisturiser, and of course I bought it the day it launched.

What is it?

Trinny London See The Light SPF50+ Moisturiser is a sunscreen that helps protect the skin from UVA & UVB damage that can cause premature ageing of the skin.

What Do I Think?

The first thing I really like about this product is the name. They’ve named it See The Light because they want you to know that whenever you see daylight, you need to apply sunscreen.

They cleverly created this sunscreen in Korea using some incredible next-generation filters. You can really tell from the texture. It feels extremely lightweight on the skin and is just a joy to use. It really doesn’t feel like you’re using a sunscreen. Gone are the days of heavy, occlusive, sticky sunscreens and we’re now in an era of fabulous lighter textures.

As Trinny London is first and foremost a makeup brand, you can imagine the kind of finish it leaves. It soaks in effortlessly and leaves a flattering glow with a slight soft-focus finish and no white cast. It is an actual glow too – not a greasy shine like some sunscreens can leave. Unlike the infamous and tremendously popular BFF Cream SPF30, this has no pigment in it, so it’s not a makeup product. But it is a product that will layer well with makeup.

Interestingly, they’re marketing this as a SPF50 Moisturiser. Whilst it does feel moisturising, it isn’t enough for me to skip moisturiser in my morning routine. I’ve been using this over summer when I can sometimes skip moisturiser if the sunscreen is moisturising enough, but this just isn’t enough for my skin. As we approach winter, it will even less likely be enough.

It’s got the same scent as their moisturisers and cleansers, so if you’re a fan of those scents like I am, you will be pleased. It’s a sort of ‘walking through an English herb garden scent’. Really pleasant, and I’m obsessed with it.

I love the clear instructions to use it whatever the weather, and to apply four pumps to cover your face and neck. It saves guessing how much product you need to use. You can apply an additional two pumps to your decolletage.

I suppose the only downside for me is the price. This will cost you £45.00 for 50ml, so it’s certainly not cheap, especially as this will probably only last a month and a half-ish. It’ll last even less if you’re religious with reapplication every two hours. I think for that reason, I would only really use this as a special treat sunscreen for weekends when I’m doing something. I’d then use something more affordable during the week. Note: Garnier is my go to when it comes to affordable sunscreens).

Another little let down is this isn’t refillable like the other skincare products. What I like about refills is not only is it better for the environment, but you also get a little saving when you purchase the refill.

With the slight negatives mentioned above aside, I’ve really like using it. The finish is beautiful, it feels light on the skin and it layer well.
