Philip Kingsley make some of my favourite hair care products. I can really notice a difference when I use them. They may be expensive, but for me, they’re totally worth the price. The Philip Kingsley Bond Builder range is a rescue ranged aimed at colour-treated or heat-styled hair which has been damaged. You can also use this range to prevent damage.

Who is the Philip Kingsley Bond Builder range for?

These have all been formulated especially to protect, strengthen and repair damaged hair. The three products featured will suit all, but especially those with dry, damaged, dull hair.

I blow dry my hair daily to style it, so my hair can often feel dry as a result and my hair has just been loving this range. It’s made my hair feel and look incredibly soft and healthy.

To get the best result from this range, you should use them in this order:-

  1. Bond Builder Restructuring Pre-Shampoo Treatment
  2. Bond Builder Lipid Shield Restorative Oil
  3. Bond Builder Split End Remedy

You can of course, dip in and out of the above to target your main concern. You don’t need to buy all three.

Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Restructuring Pre-Shampoo Treatment

What is it?

This is a hair mask that you you apply to damp hair for 10-20 minutes before shampooing. It’s designed for dull, dry and damaged hair. It will help strengthen and repair damage by reconnecting broken bonds and protecting existing bonds.

Key Ingredients

Panthenol – Conditions and provides long-lasting moisture to prevent damage.
Advanced Bond Rebuilding Technology – Philip Kingsley’s unique blend which helps protect, strengthen and repairs damaged hair.

What do I think?

This really does work exceptionally well. I use this once a week and I can really notice a difference when I use it. My hair looks and feels softer, fuller, less damaged and healthier. I also find my hair is so much easier to style.

Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Lipid Shield Restorative Oil

What is it?

A hair oil you use post-wash every 2-3 washes. It’s brilliant for hair that is frequently heat-styled, colour treated or chemically processed. It works by restoring the hairs lipid layer, which gets broken down over time from heat-styling, chemical treatments and/or colouring.

Key Ingredients

18-MEA Derivative – A derivative of 18-Methyl Eicosanoic Acid which is the primary lipid of the hair surface. This replenishes this lipid, which helps make the hair more water-repellant and less vulnerable to environmental stresses.
Camellia Oil – rich in Omega 9, antioxidants and vitamins A, D, C & E.
Caster Oil & Sebacic Acid Blend – Helps seal the hair cuticle which may have been damaged.

What do I think?

I was really surprised by just how much I love this. Having short hair, Initially, I was concerned it would just make my hair look greasy and weigh it down. Luckily, it’s such a light-weight oil, that I don’t experience either issue. You can apply this to damp, or dry hair. I personally prefer applying this to dry hair – I just feel the result is better for my hair. Like the Pre-Shampoo Treatment, it really helps my hair feel soft and healthy. Any dryness I have previously suffered with is diminished totally.

Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy

What is it?

This specifically targets split ends by strengthening and repairing existing bonds.

Key Ingredients

Hydrolyzed Oat Protein – softens hair texture, aids moisture retention and hydrates.

What do I think?

I have to admit, this is one product that I haven’t tried personally since I get my haircut every 3-4 weeks, so I have never suffered with split ends. I passed it to a friend who was really impressed with the results and has since gone on to buy more. She said she would normally suffer with split ends and be itching to get to the hairdressers to get them cut off, but since using this, she’s not experienced any split ends. You simply apply it after washing to your mid-lengths and ends of towel dried hair.
