Carbon Theory have recently launched two new cleansing products formulated with Vitamin C and Caffeine to hydrate and brighten the skin as you cleanse.

Carbon Theory pride themselves on being an anti-breakout brand, creating products that are affordable and effective at controlling breakouts.

These products launched in October last year, and I’ve been trying them out.

Carbon Theory Vitamin C & Caffeine Facial Cleansing Gel

This is my favourite of the two, and once I started using it I used it every day until I emptied it. It’s a refreshing gel cleanser, which cleans the skin effortlessly without stripping the skin.  It’s perfect for a morning or second cleanse and has a really pleasing fresh citrus scent.

They’ve formulated this with Vitamin C to help brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots, Caffeine to energise the skin and Citric Acid which gently exfoliates to treat breakouts, unclog pores and fade dark spots.

The gel texture foams slightly when massaged on the face with water.  I found it gentle enough for daily usage, and it leave my skin feeling dry or tight after use. I thought it did an excellent job at keeping breakouts under control.

Carbon Theory Vitamin C & Caffeine Facial Cleansing Bar

This contains the same key ingredients as the Cleansing Gel, except it comes in a solid soap-bar form rather than a gel.  Again it has a lovely fresh scent and it lathers up nicely when you work it into your hands with water before applying to your face.

I found this to be quite drying on my skin – I had that dry and tight feeling after cleansing – so I feel it would probably suit oilier skins better.  If you’ve got oily skin and you like the idea of a solid cleansing balm, then this would be worth trying.

Both are super affordable, costing just £6 each.  You can pick up Carbon Theory products in places like Boots, Superdrug and Beauty Bay.

Have you tried any solid cleansing balms?
