As someone with dry skin, it can be a challenge to find a clay mask that doesn’t overly dry my skin. I’ve been trying the Murad Blemish Control Rapid Relief Sulfur Mask, and I have to say, it works wonders. This is a fairly new product from Murad, since it only launched September last year.

What is it?

A sulfur based rinse off mask designed to tackle breakouts, reduce the size of blemishes and redness associated with the blemish and decongest pores.

What Do I Think?

They’ve formulated this to be soothing and moisturising, yet it will target blemishes, reduce their size and redness, whilst decongesting pores and refining skin texture.

I’ve always said Murad know how to formulate good skincare, and this is no exception. The superhero ingredient is Sulfur and Salicylic Acid, which helps treat and prevent blemishes by removing impurities. Koalin Clay helps absorb excess oil and reduce shine, and Austrian Peat Extract rehydrates the skin and reduces redness.

To counteract the somewhat eggy smell that comes from Sulphur, they’ve added Eucalyptus Oil for fragrance for a more pleasant experience.

Like most masks, this is really easy to use. You apply an even layer to clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off.  You can also only apply this to areas prone to congestion and use it more as a targeted treatment if you wanted to. Sometimes I will apply this to my nose, and forehead where I’m prone to congestion, and use a hydrating mask on the other areas of my face.

When I use this, my skin feels decongested and smooth, but I don’t experience the dryness that you can sometimes get with clay masks. It doesn’t feel like it’s stripping my skin, just aiding in removal of impurities.

Would I recommend?

Yes. This would be good if your skin is looking or feeling a bit congested and you want something to help promote clarity.

Brands Product Description

If you love how a sulfur clay mask clears blemishes but hate that it’s too drying, too tough to remove and smells less than pleasing, our ultra-luxe, silky-smooth mask is for you. Austrian peat extract together with kaolin delivers superior hydrating benefits to counter dryness, enhance clarity and encourage practically effortless removal (no pulling, tugging or excessive wiping required). And we neutralised sulfur’s notorious odour with refreshing eucalyptus for an elevated sensory experience—making it more of a “total skin health mask” than “just another blemish mask.”

Key Ingredients

  • 5% Sulfur – Treats and prevents blemishes.
  • Salicylic Acid – Helps reduce blemishes and helps dissolve the debris that leads to clogged pores.
  • Kaolin Clay – Good for absorbing and removing excess oil.
  • Austrian Peat Extract – Helps reduce redness, whilst hydrating the skin.
  • Eucalyptus Oil – Purely here for fragrance purposes to get rid of the slightly eggy smell from the Sulfur.

How I Use It

I use this when I feel like my skin needs it. If I’m noticing more breakouts than normal, I’d use it to decongest. You can use this 2-3 times a week. I personally like to use it in the evening after cleansing my skin. I’d leave it on for ten minutes before rinsing off.

Would I Repurchase/Buy?

Yes! The Murad Blemish Control Rapid Relief Sulfur Mask has been brilliant for tackling some breakouts I’ve had recently.
