The Lab Series Instant Fix BB Tinted Moisturiser came my way by way of a pleasant surprise. I ordered one of their gift sets as a Christmas gift for my brother, and this unexpectedly turned up in the box. It’s not something I would have ever ordered, and I decided to try it just to see what it was like. And you know what? I absolutely love it.
What is it?
A tinted moisturiser which will even skin tone and provide SPF35 protection.
What Do I Think?
I’m just going to say it – this is one of the best tinted moisturisers I have ever tried. The shade is perfect for my skin tone and it resolves a lot of issues I’ve previously had with tinted moisturisers.
An issue I’ve always had in the past with tinted moisturisers is that they tend to ‘clump’ around any facial, meaning I have to be careful not to apply it to my chin, jawline and neck. This blends seamlessly around the hair and I don’t have to massage it in too much to avoid the clumping.
It gives a really nice, natural, skin-like finish. It gives the skin a nice hydrated glow – one that men will appreciate. It’s not glittery or disco-ball like, just a flattering natural finish. Providing you don’t over apply, no one will know you’re wearing anything. They will simply tell you that you’re looking well and your skin is looking good. I find this great for evening my skin tone and hiding redness on my nose and cheeks. I only use a small amount, so it doesn’t completely cover the redness, but that’s ok because I want it to look as natural as possible.
It can be applied easily using my finger tips, so there’s no need to whip out a brush to blend it in. It really melts into the skin nicely, and doesn’t take long to blend in.
A bonus is that you do not need to apply a lot, so the tube will last you a long time. A pea-sized amount is enough to provide coverage and cover my face and neck. Whilst it does feel moisturising, as someone with dry skin, I wouldn’t say this is moisturising enough to be used on its own. I tend to layer it on top of my other skincare, which leads me on to..
Although it contains SPF35 I wouldn’t rely on this as your sun protection for the day. Because I only use a small amount of it, I wear a dedicated SPF 50 sunscreen underneath it to ensure I’m adequately protected.
It has a pleasant, typical men’s skincare scent that’s not overpowering and disappears after massaging in. If you’re familiar with Lab Series products, then it smells just like them.
Would I recommend?
Yes. If you’re a man who wants to give their skin a little help looking healthy, then consider giving it a try. I’m glad it fell into my lap, and I will absolutely repurchase it in the future. I actually think a lot of women would like this too. There only appears to be one shade, so if you’re anything above Type 3 on the Fitzpatrick Scale, this wouldn’t work for you sadly. Let’s hope they make more shades available to be inclusive of all skin tones.

How I Use It
I use this as the very last step of my routine. So I would cleanse, tone, apply any serums I’m using, moisturise, apply sunscreen and then apply this. If you’re quite oily, you can skip the moisturiser and just apply this straight after your sunscreen.

I will definitely repurchase this. I think it’s fantastic.

£46.00 for 50ml. Not the cheapest, but the experience of how easy it is to use and how it looks makes it worth it.
