I’d heard so many positive things about the REN Evercalm Barrier Support Oil Elixir Face Oil and I really wanted to try it. What is it?
The REN Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir Face Oil has been formulated specifically for sensitive skin. It promises to to soothe, soften and strengthen the skin barrier.
What Do I Think?
It contains a blend of microbiome-friendly and skin nurturing oils which help replenish and keep your skin barrier strong and healthy. When your skin barrier is strong, not only will your skin look better, but it will also be more receptive to any skincare products you are using.
The ingredients contained in this oil are Camellia Japonica Seed Oil. Camellia Japonica Seed Oil is rich in Omega 6 and 9 and brilliant for nourishing and soothing. Inca Inchi Oil, rich in Omega 3 and 6, help replenish the skin barrier and preserve the lipid balance. While Meadowfoam Seed Oil is also packed with nourishing lipids and antioxidants.
The clinical trials REN did for this oil are impressive. It’s clinically proven to help strengthen the skin barrier in 14 days. It’s also proven to reduce redness from 7 days and reduce sensitivity in 7 days.
It’s not a thick or greasy oil and really quite lightweight. You can easily layer it over other serums and this makes it extremely easy to use both day and night. I personally like to layer it underneath my moisturiser during my night time routine.
Whilst I don’t classify my skin as sensitive, I still really enjoy using this oil in my routines for times when my skin feels like it needs extra nourishment and comfort. It’s also a great oil to pair with your strong active products, to counteract any sensitivity that could occur whilst using them. During the times when my skin has felt a bit sensitive from overusing strong actives, I’ve found this perfect for calming and taking down the redness.
Overall, I’m impressed and the hype is very much real with this one.
Would I recommend?
Yes! It’s a great oil to use if you’re skin is prone to sensitivity, or you need the comfort and nourishment of a facial oil without the heaviness.

How I Use It
I use this day or night because it’s not a heavy oil, so it sits well under my day time moisturiser and sunscreen. I’d simply massage in 3-4 drops before I apply my moisturiser.

Yes! In my opinion, it’s a perfect oil that most people will enjoy using.
