Exfoliating Powder Cleansers are finally having their moment. I’m such a fan of them because I’ve secretly always been a lover of a bit of physical exfoliation. Skin Proud have recently launched their own version named Glow Dust.

What is it?

A power based exfoliating cleanser cleans and gently exfoliates the skin.

What Do I Think?

To use products like this, you simply pour around half a tea spoon worth of powder into wet hands and then massage into your skin. The powder turns to a paste, and eventually to a creamy milky lather.  You can totally customise the experience to your own taste. If you want a more physical exfoliating cleanse, you can use more powder. If you want a more creamier/milkier experience, you can simply use less powder and more water.

I like a more physically exfoliating cleanse every now and then, and I will primarily use this once a week.  The brand say you can use it every day, and you could, but be careful you’re not over-exfoliating your skin. I like to use this when I want my skin looking instantly smooth, like when I’m going to a party or something. I love me some acids, but sometimes you just can’t beat a bit of physical exfoliation.

This contains Vitamin C and E which help to brighten the skin, albeit not much because it’s a wash off product. There’s also Pineapple Enzymes which give a little gentle exfoliation by acting like pac-man, eating up dead skin cells.

This would be good for you if you want a deeper cleanse. Maybe your feel your skin is a little bumpy or feels ‘clogged’ and you want something that’s going to get on there and give it a good clan. I’d probably avoid it if you have particularly sore, sensitised skin.

For those wondering how it compares to the likes of the Tatcha and Dermalogica products, it’s got a slightly less powdery consistency and is a bit more course. That doesn’t bother me because once water is added the texture starts to change anyway. This is a great cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive options out there.

Would I recommend?

Yes. If you miss a bit of physical exfoliation in your routine, and you want an affordable option, this would be a good one to go for.
