Skin Rocks The Cream Cleanser Review

I know a lot of people have been raving about Skin Rocks The Cream Cleanser and I’d wanted to give it a go as a lover of cream cleansers. I picked this up from SpaceNK when I had a £5 discount code.

What is it?

A cream cleanser which will remove makeup, sunscreen and dirt without stripping the skin.

What Do I Think?

Skin Rocks offer a fragranced and fragrance free version of this cleanser to cater for all tastes and concerns. I like it when brands offer this option. FaceTheory have been offering fragranced and fragrance free versions of their products for years, so it’s nice that other brands are starting to catch on. I opted for the fragranced version because I like a bit of fragrance in my skincare. I think it really adds to the experience.

They’ve formulated this to be as kind to the skin as possible. It’s key ingredients all focus on supporting the skin barrier and includes eight amino acids, squalane and jojoba seed oil.

The texture has a creamy, lotion like weight to it. It doesn’t foam and gives a good slip for a bit of facial massage as you cleanse.

I personally like it as a morning or second cleanse. It leaves my face feeling clean, soft, moisturised and hydrated after use. I like to apply it to dry skin, then emulsify it before rinsing it away. I love that it can be rinsed away easily and you don’t need to remove with a cloth.

However, I don’t find myself reaching for it very often amongst the other cleansers I have on my shelf.

Ultimately, I find it to be just ‘ok’ and I personally think its quite expensive for what it is. It costs £32, which for me puts it in the luxury skincare bracket.  If I’m going to spend more than £30 on a cleanser, I would opt for something a bit more luxurious along the lines of Kate Somerville, Trinny London or Tatcha (all of which have fantastic cleansers btw).

For me, when it comes to luxurious skincare, I’m looking for a whole package. It’s the feel of a product, the scent, the packaging, the branding and most importantly the ingredients.  I just don’t get the feel or experience of luxury from this.

The cap on the packaging can be a bit tricky to open sometimes, and sometimes it doesn’t close properly. I find the contrasting blue and pink packaging quite difficult to read.  The scent is also quite generic and wouldn’t be misplaced outside of a generic budget product.

This is a 125ml size, which is quite small for a cleanser, though not unheard of. Unfortunately, due to the consistency, you’re going to end up being more generous with the amount of product you use, meaning that it won’t last you as long and you’ll need to repurchase more frequently.

Would I recommend?

There’s many other cream cleansers on the market that will give you the same experience, but cost you significantly less. I think if you’re a big fan of Caroline Hirons you might love it.
