Which Kate Somerville Moisturiser is right for me?
AD – Products marked * have previously been gifted, but I have also purchased them many times myself.

You will all know by now that Kate Somerville is one of my favourite skincare brands. I think their moisturisers are top-notch and definitely worth the money. The Kate Somerville moisturisers are always packed with fantastic active ingredients, and you do see brilliant results when using them. In general, I’m always using a Kate Somerville moisturiser in my routines.

I thought I’d do a little post featuring the moisturisers from the brand, with some of my thoughts and details on who should go for what.

KATE SOMERVILLE KATECEUTICALS TOTAL REPAIR CREAM

What is it?
A hydrating, skin repairing, moisturising cream packed with anti-ageing ingredients. It happens to be one of my favourite moisturisers ever. It’s expensive, but could easily be your serum and moisturiser in one step. This is possibly my favourite of all the moisturisers. It really does work wonders for my skin, and I always have one in my stash.

Targets
Loss of elasticity, fine lines & wrinkles, dull skin, dehydrated/dry skin, redness

What’s in it?
Peptides – Stimulates collagen which increases skin firmness & elasticity and decreases the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
Hyaluronic Acid – Hydrates, plumps and smooths the skin.
Squalane – Hydrates by sealing in moisture.
Vitamin E – Provides antioxidant protection from free radical damage.
Hemp, Macadamia, Babassu & Jojoba Seed Oils – Replenishes moisture and strengthens the skin barrier.

Who is it for?
Literally everyone can use this and see benefits from using it, even those with super sensitive skin. It’s an anti-ageing moisturiser, so aimed at those with signs of ageing, but you could easily use this for ageing prevention. It contains no retinol or acids, so it’s perfect for those with sensitive skin prone to irritation.

How to use
Apply day & night after any serums. I like it paired with the Firming Serum for maximum results. In general, I prefer it in the evening as a little bedtime treat for my skin.

KATE SOMERVILLE EXFOLIKATE GLOW MOISTURISER

What is it?
An exfoliating moisturiser that aims to provide a glow to the skin, whilst moisturising it. A recent discovery for me, but you should totally check this one out if you’re suffering with skin texture, dullness and a bit of dryness. It lives up to its name, giving an instant radiance to the skin that only gets better throughout the day.

Targets
Dullness, Dryness, Fine Lines & Wrinkles

What’s in it?
Glycolic & Lactic Acid – Provides chemical exfoliation to loosen dead skin cells
Papaya, Pineapple & Pumpkin Enzymes – These act a little bit like pacman, eating up any dead skin cells.
Nopal Cactus Fruit Extract – Calming and soothing, to help prevent any potential irritation.
Hyaluronic Acid – Plumps the skin by drawing in moisture, thus hydrating it.

Who is it for?
For anyone who has dull or dry skin and wants to achieve a healthy looking glow to their skin. This would make a great base for makeup.

How to use
If using in the morning, apply after your serums and before sunscreen. If using in the evening, apply after serums. I personally like it for daytime use.

KATE SOMERVILLE DELIKATE RECOVERY CREAM*

What is it?
A rich, thick barrier cream designed to sooth the skin, restore the natural skin barrier, and deeply nourish dry skin. This really has such a unique texture. At first it you think it’s going to feel heavy on the skin, but it really melts down into the most gorgeous consistency and feels SO soothing on the skin.

Targets
Stressed, Tight, Dry, Irritated or Sensitised Skin.

What’s in it?
Peptide Complex + Ceramides – Helps to reduce redness, calm irritation and restore the skin barrier.
Tasmannia Lanceolatea Fruit Extract – Calms the skin.
Ginger Root Extract – Helps reduce redness.

Who is it for?
It’s really good for those times when your skin is feeling sore, tight, and looks reddened. It really does provide instant relief. If you’re someone with dry skin, you’re bound to love this. The initial balm-like texture melts down beautifully and sinks into the skin deliciously. It’s also great for using alongside your stronger actives to prevent irritation occuring in the first place.

How to use
You can use this day or night. For me personally, it’s a night cream because I feel it would be a little too much in the day if I was out and about. I’d only use it in the day if I was spending a lazy day at home.

KATE SOMERVILLE OIL FREE MOISTURISER

What is it?
Quite literally an oil free moisturiser. If you suffer with oily skin and this is when you’d often reach for a moisturiser that is oil free. It actually contains oil-absorbing spheres which help mattify the skin and reduce shine.

Targets
Oiliness, Dehydration/Dryness, Loss of elasticity

What’s in it?
Amino Acid Derivatives – Reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Algae-Based Tighteners – Tones and tightens the skin.
Red Marine Algae – Improves firmness and elasticity.

Who is it for?
Primarily this is aimed at those with oily skin, but I’d actually suggest that those with Normal skins can also use this if you prefer more of a matte-skin. Those with dry skin may not find it enough during winter months, but during summer you might get away with using this.

How to use
Use morning or evening after serums. If using in the morning, apply a sunscreen afterwards.

KATE SOMERVILLE +RETINOL VITAMIN C MOISTURISER

What is it?
A lightweight, but substantially hydrating moisturiser packed with Vitamin C and Retinol. Adding these ingredients within a moisturiser is genius, for two reasons. Reason 1 – It really helps to buffer and counteract the dryness and irritation you can sometimes get with Retinol and Vitamin C based products. Reason 2 – it makes for a perfect, quick, one-step evening routine. As a little bonus point, this moisturiser smells divine (a little bit like Terry’s Chocolate Orange).

Targets
Dullness, Fine Lines & Wrinkles, Hyperpigmentation, Breakouts, Loss of elasticity, Dryness

What’s in it?
Retinol – Promotes skin cell turnover to soften the look of fine lines and enhance radiance.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) – Brightens and even skin tone.
Hyaluronic Acid – Hydrates, plumps and smooths the skin.
Wild Gooseberry Extract – Provides antioxidant protection against free-radicals and soothes the skin, counteracting any irritation from the Vitamin C and Retinol.

Who is it for?
I’d say this is for intermediate users of retinol products. Maybe you’ve dabbled with a low-strength retinol and you want to kick it up a notch. You may be ok with this as a retinol newbie, but I personally did experience a little irritation if I over-used it.

How to use
Use it in your evening routine only. You *could* use this everyday, but I’m not in the camp of believing retinoids need to be used everyday. I find 3 times a week works best for me. You would simply cleanse, layer a serum that does not contain retinol or exfoliating acids, and then apply this. Of course, you can easily use this as a single skincare step (i.e. cleanse and then use this), for an easy, but effective routine. Always wear at least a SPF30 sunscreen in the morning.

KATE SOMERVILLE GOAT MILK MOISTURISING CREAM*

What is it?
A moisturiser designed with sensitive skins in mind. It’s gentle and nourishing on the skin. The ingredients help to reduce redness and soothe dry skin. It’s mildly exfoliating thanks to the Goat Milk.

Targets
Dullness, Dehydration, Sensitivity, Redness, Dryness

What’s in it?
Goat Milk – Soothing for dry, sensitive skin thanks to the natural milk proteins.
Jojoba and Avocado Oils – Moisturises the skin.
Aloe – Soothes, calms and hydrates the skin.
Grape Seed Oil & Vitamin E – Provides antioxidant protection.

Who is it for?
Whilst this is aimed at those with sensitive, dry skin, it’s actually an excellent moisturiser for all. It’s gentle and supremely lightweight, but packs a punch when it comes to hydration. A lot of people with all skin types use and love this, and they often mention that it preps the skin nicely for makeup.

How to use
Use morning and/or evening after serums. If using in the morning, follow with a sunscreen.

KATE SOMERVILLE RECHARGING WATER CREAM*

What is it?
A gel-cream moisturiser that is quite literally like a drink of water for the skin. It aims to plump and provide long-lasting hydration to the skin whilst riding it of visible signs of ageing. It feels lightweight, but really plumps the skin with gorgeous hydration.

Targets
Dryness, Dehydration, Initial Signs of Ageing

What’s in it?
Aqua Port Technology – Helps deliver hydration into the skin.
Blue Light Activated Algae Extract – Prevents photo and digital ageing. Boosts radiance and improves the look of dark spots, fine lines & wrinkles.
Marigold Flower Extract – Supports elasticity, smoothes the appearance of wrinkles and helps to improve an even skin tone.

Who is it for?
Anyone who’s skin feels dehydrated. Or anyone who loves a good gel-cream texture when it comes to their moisturiser. I personally love this in the summer months.

How to use
Use morning and/or evening after serums. If using in the morning, follow with a sunscreen.

KATE SOMERVILLE PEPTIDE K8 POWER CREAM*

What is it?
An advanced anti-ageing moisturiser. This is going to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, moisturise and reduce redness. It’s actually more like a serum-come moisturiser due to the plethora of peptides they’ve packed into this moisturiser. PeptideK8 is a holy-grail product for a lot of people, because it really does do what it promises.

Targets
Dryness, Dehydration, Fine Lines & Wrinkles, Uneven Skin Tone, Uneven Texture, Redness

What’s in it?
Advanced Ceramide-infused Peptide – Plumps the skin to reduce the density of wrinkles.
Babassu and Hemp Seeds – Help support firmness of the skin.
Advanced Moisture Complex – Prevents water loss.
Oligopeptide – Help support firmness of the skin.

Who is it for?
Someone who has concerns about ageing of their skin. It’s quite similar to the Total Repair Cream. I have dry skin and I find the Total Repair Cream is more nourishing than this. Therefore, if you’re dry, you may prefer the slightly richer formula of the Total Repair Cream over this.

How to use
Apply morning or evening after serums. If using in the morning, follow with a sunscreen.

KATE SOMERVILLE AGE ARREST ANTI-WRINKLE CREAM

What is it?
This is another cream for you if signs of ageing are your concern. It’s designed specifically to reduce lack of firmness, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and moisturise.

Targets
Fine Lines & Wrinkles, Dehydration, Dryness, Lack of Firmness, Pigmentation.

What’s in it?
Telo-5 Technology – Based on Nobel-Prize winning research on telomeres. It helps fight the signs of ageing for a younger-looking skin.
Laminaria Kelp Extract – Helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Age-Defying Peptide – Stimulate collagen production to promote firmness.
Sea Whip Extract and Algae Plasma – Soothes sensitive skins.

Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to tackle the signs of ageing.

How to use
You can use this morning or evening. I loved it as a night time cream because it was a little bit more richer.
