Alpha-H Liquid Gold

Alpha-H Liquid Gold has been a cult favourite for years, and as with any truly iconic product, there’s a good reason – it delivers. Recently, it’s had a sleek packaging upgrade. Now fully leak-proof and made from recycled plastic, it’s as practical as it is powerful.

What is it?

An exfoliating treatment designed to brighten the skin, even skin tone and texture and prevent breakouts.

What Do I Think?

At its heart, Liquid Gold is a glycolic acid treatment, beloved by skincare lovers for its ability to boost radiance and refine skin texture. Glycolic acid works by dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells, sweeping away dullness and encouraging collagen and hyaluronic acid production, making it a go-to for anyone dealing with dull, congested, or ageing skin.

What sets Liquid Gold apart from many other acids on the market is the clever blend of ingredients. Alongside glycolic acid, it contains silk proteins to help lock in moisture by preventing transepidermal water loss, so it’s not as drying as you might expect. There’s also liquorice root extract, a skin-soothing powerhouse known for brightening and balancing melanin production, making it ideal for tackling pigmentation.

Now, let’s clear up a common misconception—Liquid Gold isn’t your typical exfoliating toner. This is a treatment, designed to be used solo without layering anything under or on top, including moisturiser. Personally, my dry skin needs that extra bit of hydration, so I break the rules and use it more like a serum, following with a light moisturiser.

To apply, soak a cotton pad with Liquid Gold and sweep it over clean skin. If you’re sensitive, try dampening the pad first to dilute the strength a little. Immediately, you’ll feel a smoother complexion. And with regular use, breakouts become less frequent, fine lines are softened, pigmentation fades, and skin feels noticeably refined.

Would I recommend?

Absolutely. As I’ve previously said, it’s iconic for a reason. If you’re quite sensitive, you might want to tread carefully. My partner, who has sensitive skin, can use it without any issues but he only uses it around 2 times a week.
