Facial redness is a source of quiet frustration for so many of us. As I age, I’ve started noticing it creeping in around my nose and cheeks – nothing drastic, but enough for me to notice. It’s something that my dad suffered with for years, and it looks like I could be heading the same way. So naturally, I’m always on the hunt for products that claim to help. Lately, I’ve been trying the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Serum to see how it stacks up.
What is it?
A serum which promises to soothe sensitive skin and instantly reduce redness.
What Do I Think?
This is a light weight, green-hued serum with a milky-text designed to soothe sensitive skin and instantly reduce redness. It has some calming and soothing ingredients in it, including Colloidal Oatmeal, Centella, Niacinamide and a peptide. The soft green tint comes from Chromium Oxide Greens, designed to neutralise the appearance of redness on contact.
In my experience, what this serum excels at is soothing. If your skin is playing up, whether from overzealous exfoliation or general irritation, this can help ease things back into a calmer state. It’s not lightning-fast – there are other products I’ve used that quieten inflammation more quickly – but with consistent use, it does provide relief.
What it doesn’t seem to do, at least for me, is meaningfully reduce redness. There’s a very subtle difference, but not enough for me to rave about. For comparison, the Dr. Jart+ Tiger Grass Camo Drops deliver a much more noticeable, instant neutralisation of redness. But then again, I view those more as a hybrid between skincare and makeup since you’d apply it after sunscreen.
The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Serum is, by contrast, very much a skincare product. It layers beautifully under sunscreen or makeup and feels modestly hydrating with a silky-smooth finish. There’s a lot to like about it – it’s pleasant to use, thoughtfully formulated, and non-irritating. It just didn’t move the needle much for me in terms of addressing redness long-term.
That said, skincare is wildly individual. I’ve seen plenty of glowing reviews from people who swear by it for calming and reducing their redness. If I was to grab anything from IT Cosmetics for redness, I’d probably reach for their CC Cream to cover redness before I’d reach for this to reduce redness. Speaking of which, I’d imagine this would layer really nicely under their infamous CC Cream.

Would I recommend?
If you’re struggling with redness and are curious about this serum, it might still be worth a try; just manage your expectations. I’d recommend the Dr Jart Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Range for more immediate redness relief, and the FaceTheory Lumizela A15 Serum for more long term treatment of redness.
