A little bit late, but as we welcome 2025, it’s time to look back at the sunscreens that truly stood out last year. Daily SPF isn’t just a skincare step – it’s a non-negotiable, the best defence against premature ageing and damage. And thanks to modern formulations, there’s no reason for sunscreen to feel like a chore. From luxe indulgences to affordable staples, here are the SPFs that made my shortlist.

Evy Technology Daily Defence Face Mousse SPF50*
This one turns sunscreen into a playful ritual. The mousse texture is light and airy, making application unexpectedly fun, while the formula is moisturising but never greasy.
Murad Multi-Vitamin Clear Coat Broad Spectrum SPF50*
At first, the texture might feel a little slick, but don’t let that fool you. This transparent SPF sets down to a velvety matte finish that acts like a soft-focus primer. It blurs pores and fine lines, and could easily become your primer.

Trinny London See The Light SPF50
A joy to wear, this SPF leaves a flattering, soft-focus finish. It feels lightweight and luxurious, perfect for special outings. Yes, it’s pricey, so I save it for days when I want to look my best and lean on more affordable options for the everyday.
L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Clinical Anti-UV Fluid SPF50
This might just be the perfect all-rounder. Lightweight, hydrating, and with a silky finish, it’s a dream to apply. And at £20 – frequently reduced to £10 – it’s proof that good skincare doesn’t need to break the bank.

Skin Proud Serious Shade SPF50**
For anyone who dislikes the feel of sunscreen, this one’s a revelation. Weightless, invisible, and resistant to pilling, it’s a brilliant everyday option that provides reliable protection without any fuss.
Garnier Super UV Hyaluronic Acid Hydration Fluid SPF50*
This was my gateway SPF, the first one I truly loved. It’s so light you barely notice it’s there, yet it delivers solid protection. Affordable, effective, and a total pleasure to use, it’s a staple in my stash.
