For years, Trinny Woodall swore she’d never launch an eye cream. She has been a long time advocate for simply using your serums and moisturisers around the eyes and never saw the need for a dedicated formula. Solid advice, sure – but some of us just like the ritual of an eye cream, I know I certainly do! So when Trinny London Take Back Time landed last year, promising to tackle every conceivable eye-area concern, I was intrigued.
What is it?
An eye cream that promises to tackle every single bugbear we have about our eyes – fine lines, wrinkles, eye bags and dark circles.
What Do I Think?
What sets this apart is its Miniprotein technology, something Trinny London actually introduced before Medik8’s much lauded Liquid Peptides. It features Conotoxin Miniprotein, which softens expression lines, and TGF-beta Miniprotein, which boosts firmness for a lifted look. There’s also Pro-derma hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, Hexapeptide-8 to reinforce the skin’s defences, and Ashwagandha to fight environmental stress. It’s a seriously considered formula.
And I love it. My eye area looks fresher, fine lines are less obvious, and it delivers proper hydration without feeling heavy or greasy. It absorbs well – no frustrating residue – and a tiny amount goes a long way. The only downside? The claims to reduce dark circles don’t quite stack up. While there’s a brightening sheen, it’s no substitute for a good concealer (Trinny’s BFF Eye would be a solid choice).
Another win is the packaging. The pot is stackable with the Travel Sized versions of the other Trinny London skincare products. But unlike the rest of the skincare range, there’s no refill option – an oversight, in my opinion. That said, they’ve included a little metal spoon for hygienic application, which is a nice touch. Refillable or not, I’ll be using every last bit.
Would I recommend?
Overall, Take Back Time is an eye cream that delivers where it matters – hydration, firmness, and softening fine lines – while feeling beautifully luxurious on the skin. It won’t work miracles on dark circles, but then, what truly does? If you love an eye cream and want one that feels as considered as the rest of your skincare, this is a solid investment. A refillable option would make it even better, but as it stands, I’ll happily keep this in my routine until the very last scoop.
