Every so often, a new skincare brand quietly arrives, only to surprise you by doing pretty much everything right. Enter Dussl – a Scottish born skincare brand with a laser-sharp focus on sun protection, which, let’s be honest, is the one skincare step most people often skip, fudge, or leave until it’s too late. I’ve been testing the Dussl Daily Protection Moisturiser SPF50 and have been enjoying it immensely.

What is it?

A SPF50 moisturiser with added skincare benefits designed to protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays.

What Do I Think?

The Dussl Daily Protection Moisturiser is the kind of product that’s so unassuming, so straightforward, that it almost feels radical. No ten-step routines. No “activated botanical complexes from the foothills of somewhere you’ve never been.” Just a proper, broad-spectrum SPF50 moisturiser with ingredients that work and a texture that makes you want to use it every single day. Which, let’s face it, is the whole point.

It’s loaded with niacinamide for brightening, hyaluronic acid for hydration, panthenol to soothe, and vitamin E for antioxidant support. Throw in their blue light stem cell tech, and you’ve got a daily all-rounder that wears beautifully.

Now, about the texture. When I read that the finish was matte, as someone with dry skin, I was fully expecting something drying and overly matte. The kind of matte that has dry-skinned people like me reaching for facial oil like it’s water in a desert. But actually, this is one of the best surprises I’ve had in ages. It’s soft, hydrating, and matte in the best way – not the tight, uncomfortable way. It leaves no white cast, absorbs in seconds, and doesn’t leave you looking like an iced bun. Dry skins will feel comfortably cushioned, oily skins won’t feel overloaded. Win-win.

Best of all? It doesn’t sting your eyes – a rare and beautiful thing in the world of synthetic-filter SPFs. If you’re especially sensitive or prefer mineral sunscreens, the brand has you covered there too with a mineral version in the same line.

Would I recommend?

Yes. It’s unisex, unfussy, and genuinely suitable for all skin types and tones. If you hate faff, dislike layering, or just want something you can slap on without a second thought, this could well be the SPF moisturiser you’ve been waiting for.
