If you caught my recent thoughts on the Tatcha Essence, you’ll know I wasn’t blown away (read the review here). No shade on Tatcha – it just didn’t quite justify its price tag. Enter the Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Revitalizing Toner, which has entirely filled the gap I was looking to address.
What is it?
A hydrating toner designed to refresh and hydrate the skin post-cleanse.
What Do I Think?
The formula is centred on blue hyaluronic acid, a blend of hyaluronic acid and fucoidan derived from deep-sea algae. This powerhouse combo absorbs faster and more effectively than standard hyaluronic acid, delivering hydration that feels both intense and long-lasting. It’s paired with beta-glucan, known for its soothing properties, making it ideal for skin that’s a touch frazzled.
This toner’s purpose is delightfully straightforward – it refreshes, hydrates, and preps the skin post-cleanse, helping it absorb subsequent products more effectively. And it delivers on all counts. The texture is somewhere between water and gel – silky, lightweight, and easily applied with a few drops pressed into the skin. My face immediately feels quenched, leaving a dewy, plump finish that makes my next steps glide on like a dream.
The scent is a subtle, aquatic freshness – pleasant but far from overpowering. Even better, its inclusion of soothing ingredients like panthenol makes it a lifesaver for those days when your skin feels tight, stressed, or sensitised.
At £25, it’s a quarter of the price of the Tatcha Essence and, for my money, far more effective at delivering hydration. It’s been exactly what my dry, dehydrated skin needs as a post-cleanse treat, and it seems to act as a little helper to everything else I layer on top.
Would I recommend?
This will absolutely be a repurchase for me. It’s not hugely expensive, effective, and feels genuinely luxurious to use.
