It’s true to say that reality TV often offers better product recommendations than any marketing campaign, and never was that truer than during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s now infamous Bat Mitzvah episode, where Kerastase Thermique found itself at the heart of a row over who looked sluttier.
Yes, really, that’s exactly what happened. Kerastase Thermique was name checked mid-argument, in an explosive row that accused one housewife of having “pornish” and “high body count” hair before another consoled her by insisting all she needed was some Kerastase Thermique.
It was gloriously ridiculous and wholly unhinged, but an excellent piece of beauty PR that brands just cannot pay for. Google searches for Kerastase Thermique shot up the week after the episode aired, and it even earned a few partnership deals between the feuding housewives. I couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough.
What is Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique?
Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique is the original heat protectant that hairdressers and stylists have raved about for years, and with good reason it seems. It’s a lightweight, creamy gel that protects hair from the kind of daily abuse most of us casually inflict with hairdryers, straighteners, hot brushes, and curling tongs. It can protect hair up to 230°C, but this isn’t just about heat protection. The formula also actively repairs. It contains the brand’s signature Creatine R complex and Taurine, which work to strengthen the internal structure of the hair fibre, while ceramides help smooth the surface and boost elasticity. Maleic Acid, often found in the more premium lines of haircare, balances pH and helps shift product build up from the scalp.

What is Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique like?
Despite all that, it’s not remotely heavy, greasy or sticky. I apply it through my hair after towel drying. A simple blast of the hair dryer and moments later it leaves behind a glossy, smooth finish that makes your hair look noticeably healthier and less dry with an inoffensive subtle scent that’ll leave your hair smelling fresh all day.
There’s no residue, no crispiness, and no dulling of colour. It’s exactly what you want from a heat protectant.

Should I try Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique?
If you heat style even occasionally, or fear being accused of having slutty hair, then this is one to try. Housewives drama not included.
