Embryolisse is practically synonymous with French pharmacy skincare – a brand steeped in moisturising marvels and a cult-classic original cream beloved by makeup artists and beauty insiders alike. So when they introduced the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Multi-Protection SPF20, I was intrigued. A cream that promises to moisturise while protecting against UVA/UVB rays, blue light, infrared, pollution, and signs of ageing? Sign me up – at least in theory.
What is it?
A solid serum in stick form designed to hydrate and moisturise the skin.
What Do I Think?
Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. Let’s start with the elephant in the room: SPF20. While any sun protection is better than none, SPF20 in 2025 feels, frankly, a bit redundant. In a world that rightly champions SPF30 as the bare minimum for daily wear, this feels like a step back.
But the real kicker is the pilling. Few things in skincare are as exasperating as product pilling – it wastes time, product, and patience. I found this cream incredibly temperamental; layering anything over it (a proper sunscreen, for instance) often turned into a game of roulette. Even when carefully applied with the gentlest of touch, it seemed a toss-up whether I’d end up with a smooth finish or bits of rolled-up residue clinging to my face.
In its favour, it’s a beautifully lightweight texture and has that distinct Embryolisse scent that always feels like a small indulgence. But practically speaking, it’s hard to love a product that doesn’t play nicely with the rest of your routine – particularly when time is tight in the mornings.
That said, if you’re spending a makeup-free day at home or need light moisturisation with a whisper of sun protection while working indoors, it may find a niche in your collection. For me, though, it’s not enough to justify a permanent spot on my shelf.

Would I recommend?
Embryolisse remains a brand I admire, but this release feels like a rare misstep in their otherwise stellar lineup. I’d stick to the original Lait-Crème or invest in a separate SPF that won’t leave you frustrated.
Brands Product Description
The 7-in-1 multi-tasking cream formula absorbs into the skin easily. Its formula hydrates prime the skin for makeup, and even soothes skin after shaving while, more importantly, ensuring it is protected from UVA, UVB, infrared, and blue rays thanks to SPF20 PA+++.
How I Use It
I use this in moisturiser stage in my routine, and layer a SPF30 or SPF50 over the top.

Would I Repurchase/Buy?
No. Not with the pilling I’ve experienced. The Original Lait Creme, however, I LOVE.
