I don’t often write about haircare but when I find products I actually stick with, it feels worth sharing. These are the current favourites, all of which have earned their place by doing exactly what they promise.
American Crew Forming Cream
This has been my default styling product for years. It gives medium hold and shine and adds a bit of thickness. It’s the definition of reliable, and I’ve yet to find a bad hair day it can’t at least improve. Brilliant for anyone who wants a straightforward, unfussy, medium shine styling product that looks like you’ve made an effort without trying too hard.
Hair by Sam McKnight Dressed to Kill
This one might be about to unseat American Crew in my lineup. It’s a soft but rich crème that tames frizz, smooths flyaways, defines curls or waves, and just makes hair look finished in a very chic, non-crunchy way. Perfect for those with naturally wavy or unruly hair who want polish without losing softness or movement.
Color Wow Pop & Lock
A glossy serum that smooths, seals, protects, and generally revives hair when it looks a bit dry, crispy, or lifeless. It gives shine without that heavy, greasy residue that so many serums leave behind. Best for anyone battling frazzled, coloured, or heat-styled lengths that need instant rescue.

Hair by Sam McKnight Modern Hairspray
I said this before, but it really is the best hairspray I’ve ever tried. It holds your style but still allows you to brush, restyle, and generally touch your hair without feeling like it’s lacquered into place. It’s functional but elegant, which is all I ever want from haircare. A great choice if you hate stiff, crunchy sprays but still want your style to last beyond lunch.
Pureology Weightless Volume Mousse
A light, conditioning mousse that adds soft, touchable lift and makes hair look a bit fuller without that dry, mousse-y crispness. I find myself reaching for it when my haircut is overdue and my hair is falling a bit flat. Ideal for those who want a bit of bounce and body without sacrificing softness.
