If you’re after a sunscreen that doesn’t feel like a mask on your face, the Byoma Ultralight Face Fluid SPF50 is very much one to consider. True to its name, it’s feather-light, glides on effortlessly, and ticks all the boxes for UVA and UVB protection while also trying to soothe and hydrate the skin.

What Do I Think?
The formula features Byoma’s Cera-Sun Technology (a clever mix of ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and astaxanthin) designed to support the skin barrier and keep your complexion looking healthy. It’s free from fragrance, essential oils, and alcohol, plus it’s vegan and cruelty-free, which is always a bonus.
The packaging is bold, bright, and cheerful. It’s a flat, rounded bottle that fits nicely in your hand, your handbag, or a wash bag. It’s got a runny, lotion-like texture, and you do have to give the bottle a good squeeze to get it out, but once it’s on your skin, it spreads beautifully. It reminds me a lot of the light, dewy SPFs I adore from Korean brands.
As expected, the pink-tinted fluid absorbs quickly, leaving zero white cast. The finish is dewy rather than matte, so if you’re oily, you might need to blot a touch during the day. Those whose skin leans drier, however, will be in heaven. Importantly, I haven’t noticed any pilling, which can be the bane of lightweight sunscreens.
The only downside for me has been my eyes which I have found sting when little of it drifts near them. That’s enough to make me cautious, but if you don’t have sensitive eyes, the Byoma Ultralight Face Fluid is a genuinely pleasant, barely-there SPF that feels like skincare rather than sunscreen. Perfect for anyone who hates heavy, sticky formulas.
Would I recommend?
Yes – to some. Be cautious if your eyes are sensitive to Octocrylene. It tends to be one of the sunscreen filters that irritates people’s eyes – mine included.
