If you have dry skin, you’ll know the comfort that ceramides bring – and Q+A Ceramide Barrier Defence Face Cream delivers exactly that, without the hefty price tag. At just £12.50, it’s an absolute steal for a formula packed with barrier-boosting ingredients designed to protect, hydrate, and strengthen.
What is it?
A moisturiser designed to hydrate and soothe the skin.
What Do I Think?
Ceramides are the backbone of a resilient skin barrier, working to lock in moisture and defend against environmental stressors. Here, they’re paired with natural Squalane, derived from Olive Oil, which provides deep hydration without greasiness. It’s lightweight enough for all skin types but rich enough to make a noticeable difference to dry, tight skin.
The texture is on the thicker side – almost whipped, teetering on body butter territory. It forms a protective, cushiony layer as soon as it’s applied, but rather than leaving the usual dewy, glossy finish, it dries down to a surprising matte effect. This makes it feel less heavy than its texture suggests, though I wouldn’t rely on it alone in the depths of winter. Instead, it’s the perfect in-between-season moisturiser – offering enough hydration as we transition into spring without overwhelming the skin.
I’ve found it works best as a night cream. While it’s brilliantly nourishing, it hasn’t played well with every sunscreen I’ve tried, and some formulas have pilled when layered over it. So if you’re someone who likes a seamless makeup base, you might want to keep this one for your evening routine.
At this price, though, it’s forgiving. It’s one of those quietly brilliant creams that gets on with the job, bringing instant relief to dry skin.
Would I recommend?
If you’re after an affordable, no-thrills barrier repair that does what it says on the jar, the Q+A Ceramide Barrier Defence Face Cream is well worth a place in your routine.
