Tatcha The Serum Stick Review

Tatcha The Serum Stick

There’s a certain type of beauty product that lives not in your bathroom cabinet, but at the bottom of your bag. Used, loved, and reliably retrieved in a moment of need. Tatcha The Serum Stick is very much that sort of item.

What is it?

A solid serum in stick form designed to hydrate and moisturise the skin.

What Do I Think?

Pulled from the SpaceNK advent calendar, I was delighted to find this little stick nestled among the drawers. Tatcha’s Dewy Skin range has long been a faithful friend to my dry, often parched complexion, and this handy stick promised more of the same comfort, care, and a bit of radiance as the rest of the Dewy Skin range.

The concept is simple – a solid serum made up of 80% squalane and blended with Japanese lemon balm. It’s designed to glide over dry patches and soothe on contact. This is not some slippy, greasy lip balm masquerading as skincare. The balm has a satisfyingly firm texture, so it can be swiped on with a good amount of pressure, even over makeup, without fear of dragging or melting into a puddle.

The effect is instant. It excels in moments of mid-afternoon tightness. A quick slick of this and everything appears a little softer, a little fresher, as though your skincare has been topped up without having to start again. I don’t wear makeup, but I can imagine it would be brilliant at reviving it, especially if it starts clinging to dry patches or sinking into fine lines.

It’s the kind of thing that earns its place in a flight bag too. Hydrating enough to stave off cabin dryness, neat enough to use in the cramped confines of a plane loo, and portable enough to go through security.

Would I recommend?

Is it an essential? No. If you’re new to Tatcha, I’d still direct you to the Dewy Skin Cream first. That rich, luxurious moisturiser is the true jewel in the brand’s crown. But The Serum Stick is a lovely thing to have if your skin tends to tantrum throughout the day.
