Jones Road Gel Bronzer Review

Jones Road Gel Bronzer

We all want a bronzed look over summer without the sun damage and as someone who wears SPF 50 daily, I’ve long accepted that a real tan is neither desirable nor on the cards. But the desire for just a whisper of warmth, that healthy, “I’ve actually left the house” look, especially in the summer months, never quite goes away. Enter the Jones Road Gel Bronzer. I bought this on the recommendation of @skincaresteve who posted a glowing review on his page. His review mentioned that this doesn’t cling or clump into stubble which is one of the biggest gripes I have with anything vaguely tinted or creamy. So I added it to basket, and I’m very glad I did.

What is it?

A solid serum in stick form designed to hydrate and moisturise the skin.

What Do I Think?

This is a sheer, skin-enhancing tint which is subtle, believable, and very easy to use. It comes in three shades: Light (a soft golden bronze), Medium (a warmer, red based bronze), and Dark (a rich chocolate tone). I opted for Light, which is just enough to give my pale skin a gentle sunlit warmth without tipping over into Oompa Loompa territory.

The texture is a total dream. It’s weightless, gel-like, and incredibly forgiving. It comes out of the tube looking suspiciously dark, but once blended (which takes seconds), it melts seamlessly into the skin. There’s no chalkiness, no streaks, and crucially, no patchy beard weirdness.

You can pat it on over makeup or apply directly onto bare skin, which is how I like to use it for an ultra-natural finish. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even mix a little into moisturiser. A word of caution here – don’t ever mix it into your sunscreen (layer it over instead).

What I love most is its versatility. Apply it traditionally across the high points of the face cheeks, temples, bridge of the nose or go all in and use a light layer all over for a fresh off holiday glow. It gives radiance without sparkle, and a glow without grease.

Would I recommend?

Yes. It’s a new summer essential for me. It’s no faff and so easy to use. Washes off easily too if you dare not go down the tanning drops route.
