There are periods in life when your face simply refuses to cooperate. Stress, poor sleep, the accumulated weight of too much going on and not enough time to recover from any of it, and your skin records all of it faithfully. I have been living through one of those stretches recently, and my bathroom shelf has had to work considerably harder than usual as a result. The Trinny London Miracle Halo has been one of the more reliable things on it.
What is it?
A illuminating highlighter that helps skin look radiant, well-rested and glowy without glitter. It’s available in four different shades:-
- Starlight – Soft cool champagne radiant glow
- Candlelight – Gentle neutral pink radiant glow
- Sunlight – True honey gold radiant glow
- Firelight – Gentle neutral bronze radiant glow
I chose shade Starlight, which the brand recommended to be via their Match to Me tool available on their website.
What Do I Think?
The formula is built around a nourishing blend of avocado, sweet almond and jojoba oils alongside a high concentration of brightening pigments, and what that produces in practice is something that genuinely reads as skin rather than product.
The finish is pearlescent rather than glittery or metallic, and on the skin it reads as dewiness rather than shine. Nobody is going to look at you and think you’re wearing an illuminator. They’re going to think you look well, which on the days I’ve been reaching for this, has felt like a minor miracle in itself.
The texture is silky and genuinely moisturising in a way that feels more like skincare than makeup, and it blends without any effort or particular technique. I’ve been mixing mine into my moisturiser before applying, which gives an all-over glow that looks entirely like your own skin having a better day than it actually is.
You can also wear it alone over SPF by simply tapping it onto the high points of the face (the cheekbones, the brow bone, the cupid’s bow) for an instant lift, or mix it into foundation or moisturiser if you want something less flat looking. It is extremely versatile.

Would I recommend?
What I keep coming back to is how well it performs specifically on those mornings when you catch yourself in the bathroom mirror and think that you look terrible. A pump of this, worked into your moisturiser and applied quickly, puts something back. It’s not coverage or correction, just a quality of light that makes the face look alive again. For that alone it has earned its place.
