Blemish or pimple patches are everywhere at the moment, and for good reason. They offer a fuss-free way to deal with those sudden spots without poking or prodding. Garnier Pure Active 8H Invisible Blemish Patch landed earlier this year, and I’ve been putting them to the test.
What is it?
These hydrocolloid patches form a protective seal over a spot, drawing out oil and impurities while promising to reduce its size within eight hours.
What Do I Think?
They’re ultra thin, practically invisible once applied. You’d have to be looking really closely to spot them. They don’t irritate or tug at the skin, so it’s easy to forget they’re even there. Garnier suggests you can easily lay makeup over them. I haven’t tried this myself, but I’d love to hear if anyone has managed it successfully.
Each pack comes with two sizes (10mm and 12mm) to tackle blemishes big and small. Once stuck on, they stay firmly in place and act as a little barrier, preventing you from touching, picking, or aggravating the spot.
Do they work? Yes. They absorb debris from the blemish and visibly reduce its size. My only quibble is the lack of an active ingredient. A touch of Salicylic Acid or, even better, Azelaic Acid would have made these patches a proper little treatment as well as a shield, helping to calm redness and speed healing.

Would I recommend?
They’re a handy tool for anyone prone to spots, especially for overnight use or when you need a little emergency fix. Just don’t expect miracles. They’re not going to totally get rid of the spot completely, but they’ll stop you picking, and they’ll help reduce it.
