This summer I was tired of my body looking ghostly white so I set about trying some body products designed to give me a healthy glow. I picked up the Tan-Luxe Super Glow Body Hyaluronic Self-Tan Serum when they had a sale on.
What is it?
A self-tan for the body with a serum-like texture instead of a traditional cream or foam.
What Do I Think?
The reason I went for this was I really liked the sound of it. Firstly, it has the texture of a serum, which I loved because I didn’t want anything heavy on my body especially in summer when it’s (usually) hot. Secondly, I liked the fact it was gradual so I could really control how tanned I wanted to look.
Tan-Luxe make their tanning products with skincare ingredients. This one contains Chai Seed & Avocado Oil for hydration, Beetroot & Kale Extract for brightening and Raspberry Seed Oil & Blueberry Extract for antioxidant protection.
It applies and absorbs easily, leaving no sticky residue. I normally just apply a few pumps to my hands and massage all over my body in sections. I find it works best if you exfoliate before, so use a good body scrub to make it go on seamlessly. When I don’t exfoliate, I find it can go on a little uneven.
This takes a bit of time to build up a colour, depending on how much you use. This might frustrate some people, but I liked it because I could really control the depth of colour. I would apply every evening over 3-4 nights to achieve the colour I wanted and then use a couple times a week after that.
The result is fantastic – it’s doesn’t make you look orange. It just makes your skin look healthy. It feels nice and hydrating on the skin without any heaviness. There’s a strawberry-like scent to it which can linger for a while. I’m not overly keen on the scent, but it’s better than the usual biscuit fake-tan smell 😂
I hate when fake tan leaves stains on white bedsheets, but this one doesn’t leave any stains at all.
You do have to be a little bit careful with the bottle. It’s made of glass and once your hands are dampish from the product, it can be a little bit slippery so be careful not to let it slip out your hands.
