Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream Review

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream

Drunk Elephant has spent the past couple of years being absolutely commandeered by teenagers who discovered it on TikTok and proceeded to clear out Sephora’s shelves with an enthusiasm that is, depending on your perspective, either rather sweet or faintly alarming. As someone who came to it from the other direction, as a millennial who had simply never got around to trying the brand properly, I finally made my way to the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream via a SpaceNK advent calendar. I’m glad I did.

What is it?

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream is a moisturiser designed for tired, dry skin.

What Do I Think?

It is, first and foremost, a masterclass in texture. Rich enough to satisfy genuinely dry skin without ever tipping over into the heavy, suffocating quality that richer creams can have. It manages the rather difficult trick of feeling simultaneously substantial and weightless. There’s no greasiness, no pilling and no that will do compromise. It just works perfectly whether you use it morning or night.

The formula is doing sensible, considered things. A triple ceramide blend helps the skin hold onto moisture and maintain its barrier integrity, while a blend of five African oils nourishes and offers antioxidant protection. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer delivers hydration and takes a slow, consistent run at fine lines. What you won’t find is silicone, which is almost certainly why it layers so obediently under and over other products without balling up or causing trouble.

Would I recommend?

Yes, especially if you have dry skin. It smooths dry patches, keeps skin comfortable throughout the day, and does everything a good moisturiser should without requiring much thought or effort on your part. The price is real, though, and I’d gently suggest that if a child in your life has decided they need this, they don’t. Save them the trouble and treat yourself instead. You’ve earned it rather more.

Brands Product Description

Lala Retro™ is a whipped dream-come-true for tired, dry skin. This  multifaceted ceramide moisturiser for dry skin, infused with six African oils and a plant ceramide complex, provides replenishing barrier support by reinforcing the skin’s acid mantle and defending against the effects of everyday stressors. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer easily soaks in to release intense hydration. In addition, antioxidant-rich fermented green tea helps combat signs of ageing. Loaded with omega acids, Lala helps skin retain long-lasting moisture, forming a protective layer that allows skin to function at its optimal level.
