Skin tints have become one of the more crowded categories in makeup over the past couple of years. Every brand from L’Oreal to Victoria Beckham has launched one, and the results vary considerably. When Trinny London added their Fearless Skin Tint Drops to the mix, I was curious to see what their offering would be like.

What Do I Think?
The texture is the first thing worth noting. It is exceptionally fluid and light, and it stays that way even when you add more drops to build up coverage. There is no point at which it starts to feel heavy or make-like on the skin. This sounds like a small thing but it is actually the detail that separates a good skin tint from a bad one.
The formula is built with 40-plus skin specifically in mind, which gives it a more considered ingredient list than many in this category. Evodia rutaecarpa plant extract boots luminosity. Niacinamide addresses fine lines. Hyaluronic Acid targets dehydration and Biomimetic lipids and bacillus ferment work on the barrier. It is coverage that functions as skincare.
The central question for anyone considering a skin tint as a foundation alternative is whether it sits in lines. On my skin, after twelve hours of wear, the answer is firmly no. I applied it directly under my eyes, which is where products tend to settle first, and it did not. It looked, if anything, slightly more luminous by the end of the day than it did at the start.
That luminosity is worth discussing honestly. The finish is genuinely dewy and glowing, and some people will find it too much. If a matte finish is your preference, this is probably not the product for you. The BFF All Day Foundation would be a better fit. The other thing to know is that a high-shine finish can draw attention to an uneven texture. I had a small breakout during testing (not from using this I may add), and while the tint covered the spots themselves, it did highlight the texture around them.
Coverage sits comfortably at medium. It handles redness and pigmentation well, and you can build up slightly without losing the lightweight quality.
Shade matching is straightforward via Trinny London’s Match to Me tool on their website, which using your hair colour, skin tone and eye colour to find your shade. I have used it multiple times across different complexion products and it has been accurate every time. A practical note before you start. Shake the bottle well before use. The formula can separate if it has been sitting unused, and a good shake before application makes a real difference.
Application is flexible. Fingers work well and gives a natural finish, but a brush or sponge are equally viable depending on your preference. The dropper gives you good control over how much product you use, which matters with something this fluid.
Would I recommend?
If a lightweight, dewy, medium-coverage base is what you are looking for, this delivers it very well.
